Re: Iniakuk River- the Arctic’s Best Kept Secret

I can't remember what year it was, but the editor of Canoe and Kayak magazine, Eugene Buchanan, went down the Iniakuk River. Maybe he was with Chris White? Anyway, it's been on my radar ever since.

Partners for Western Brooks Range

Planning a packrafting/backpack trip for northwest AK (Utukok/Kokolik)) early June 2015, and looking for travel mates. The bush plane can fit 3 or 4 with gear. I have the maps, the logistics and I have been hiking and paddling north of 60 for 30 years. Please send me a PM if interested. Thanks, Wate...

Re: Papua New Guinea - Goroka

Hello there, Are you still in PNG? I am an Alaskan currently in Brisbane, and thinking to go to PNG for a short trip in May. I have done a fair bit of packrafting, but don't have my packraft with me. Curious to know about safety issues there. People say it is dangerous off the beaten path. Good hiki...

Re: Partners For Alaskan trip Summer 2014

Dana,
Wonder if you would consider a June trip, and further north? I have traveled all over Alaska but not enough by packraft. Send me a PM and we can start a dialog.

Re: Packrafting in Norway

You might want to check out Jostedal, Norway. I met the owner of Ice Troll a few years ago. He's managed to make a business taking people onto the glaciers and kayaking on the Jostedalsbreen Glacier lake. This is an area with a couple national parks, and there's also some whitewater paddling. It's p...

Re: John River to Wild River

John,
Wondering what your river classification of the Nahtuk would be? You say there are tight canyons--are there any places where there are sweepers, or other obstacles? Thanks.

I'm fairly certain that it is not. The Sadlerochit could be at certain water levels.

Wow, this looks super! After many wet days packrafting with the current sprayskirt (that just does not seem to fit me tight enough, so I am constantly getting a boat full of water, I am excited to try out the new skirt! Thanks, Alpackaraft!

Re: Alpacka Raft and Feathercraft

I've used a Baylee 1. It's an awesome boat. In fact, I own both a Baylee and an Alpacka raft. The Baylee 1 is definitely heavier than an Alpacka, Yukon Yak or Denali Llama. On the other hand, it's likely to be more sturdy, with greater longevity. Like all Feathercraft products, the construction is b...
