Generally no, there isn't a permit system for rivers. That is why I recommended the Explorer. It has a higher bow, and even more volume in the Stern. Thus can ride waves better. I d say, an Explorer with 2 is capable the same as a Scout with one, as this has onyl 10" tubes. The double duck has too little volume in the bow in my opinion. Open water clas...

How about a double (Duck or Explorer)? Split it is lighter per person than any other.
You can save weight by the paddel too.

Gladie, the inner lenth is correct, the outside length is from the older model :) An Alpaca has 2,20 m now :)
None of the Boats have changed in there internal lenth, but they got narrower at the bow, so some people perceive it smaler.

As the Explorer has the longest waterline, I d say you can pull out a hull speed of 5km/h.
Standard Boots (pre2011) had ~4 Km/h.

Quickly done: go in a hardware store, it is a standars screw (I believe 1 1/4), you should find a cap there. Talking of emergency solutions (loosing in the field etc.) I always carry a wine cork (or the whole bottle;) with me. It can seal the inflation bag screw and serve as a cap thus. I once had t...

Hi Stretch, the Explorer was my first Alpacka/Packraft (own 4 by now), and I still love it! It is my multi purpose boat. It is simple, stripped off anything, easy to use ... for newbies, for bikerafting, trips with children or even with a partner (by seat modification I can set up any sitze I want) ...

2011 Llama, Yellow, basically new, EU based!

A friend of mine is going to sell his Boat (Alpacka Llama in yellow, version 2011). It has touched the water only once (lake), basically a new one. He simply bought it to big for him (being 179cm). Complete with spraydeck, all accessories and without any demage or scratches, only minor pigmentations...

That is indeed a radical move and I wonder what that half a meter more means in terms of (hull) speed, the greatest limitation for packrafts so far. This is a feature not mentioned in the improvements (next to tracking an stability). Also, I am surprised half a meter more boat would mean only 150g m...

My hands fully agree! I tried dish washing gloves last time, with good grip/feel on the paddle at full wet and somewhat cold protection. Its a tradeoff most kayakers face too...
