July '17 Cross Chichagof Packraft trip

This July we hiked and Packrafted across Chichagof Island. We started by boating to Pelican, overnighting then getting dropped off on the beach at the head of Lisianski Inlet. We hiked across a ridge into Steelhead creek where we rafted to its upper end then deflated and portaged across to the "Goul...

Re: Cross Admiralty Canoe Trail

It is totally doable with Packrafts and one of the best choices if you are just doing the trail. If you can hike two miles with 30-40lb you can do it. The folks before us paddled from Olivers Inlet to Angoon across the trail in plastic sea kayaks. I think they dragged their boats most the time, lots...

Re: Chilkoot Trail -July 2016

I hiked it in early August and had some snow in the passes but lakes were all clear. Canadian side of the pass has several nice lakes to explore. If you camp at Deep or Bare loon lake you will have time for an evening paddle. Lindeman creek or Cutting across from Long lake to Mountain lake and down ...

Re: 10 Days on the Kongakut

WOW, great video! What a super trip with great weather. What boats are you using, looks like some good loads? Any hazards along the way?

Re: Cross Admiralty Canoe Trail

Here is a great write up about the trail using sea kayaks and an inflatable skiff and an outboard.

Cross Admiralty Canoe Trail

This a great packrafting trip with easy portages, mostly calm water and beautiful wildlife and scenery. The portages don't require deflating, the longest is three miles. It can also be done with traditional canoes and kayaks. We did it in five days so there was time to do a side trip to lake McKinne...
