Re: New to pack rafting need help with gear purchase

Update on the bakraft expedition. My gf and I just hiked up the Dolores from bedrock, camped a few days and then floated out. With two people plus gear we put 440 pounds in the boat. That was probably nearing the top end of what would work but it carried the load and handed great! I would have no qu...

Re: New to pack rafting need help with gear purchase

I really like the bakraft expedition design for either one or two people. I think the longer water lines help it handle better. The original bakraft design did get good reviews though and the deal piglet is offering seems pretty good

Re: New to pack rafting need help with gear purchase

I'm new to packrafting but a long time boater. I just got an Aire Bakraft Expedition and I'm super happy with it so far. It's on the heavy side at 10 lbs but a fully outfitted alpaca weighs about the same. It drives very well in my experience so far and can carry a lot of weight if needed. I just to...

Hi Try, not sure what you're referring to but thanks for the response. I did end up getting the Aire Bakraft Expedition. So far it's awesome! I've never paddled a traditional type of packraft but coming from a long background of rafting and kayaking I'm super happy I picked the Aire. It's drives ver...

Re: Alternative seats for Alpacka Double Duck

I'm not sure which boat you're referring to as the double duck, is it one of the cargo series? I bought an Aire Bakraft Expedition over the winter. (my first packraft) Just tried it out yesterday for the first time with two people to see how it worked. (worked awesome!) We paddled it like a two pers...

Dolores partners and/or coordinate shuttle?

I need to get to the desert! I'm looking at running the Dolores between Slickrock and Bedrock and it looks like I could get away for a few days around the weekend of May 13th. I won't mind running it solo but I thought I'd see if anyone else might be interested. Or see if anyone else is doing a trip...

Re: Escalante

I don't have any definitive plans but I'm super interested! I could probably pull off a trip early to mid may. I've been looking at Egypt Road to Coyote Gulch. If anyone has a trip that would take on another, or anyone wants to plan something, let me know.

Central Colorado partners?

Hello, Live in Buena Vista, CO and just got my new packraft, super excited! If anyone wants to meet up for quick excursions this spring and summer let me know. I'm a long time rafter/pseudo kayaker with plenty of river and rescue experience, on the other hand I'm slow'n down in my old age. So I'm su...

Re: Anchor set ups

I'm brand new to pack rafting, only been out twice in my new boat so far. I bought this anchor, http://www.nrs.com/product/1646/shrimp-lightweight-boat-anchor. I haven't tried to use it yet but it looks like it will work well. If I'm fishing on the river I'm sure I'll just jump out and wade but I fi...

Aqua Bound Shred 4 piece for sale or trade

I have a 198 shred 4 piece that has been used one time, still has the price tag stickers on it. I realized the first day out that it is much to short for the way I'm paddling my boat. Would love to find someone to trade with, if not I'd be happy to sell it. $100

Nick, what do you think of the backraft expedition so far? Mine just came in, going to try to get out for a little tester run this weekend.

Re: Throw bag recommendations?

My main recommendation would be to splurge for the stronger rope. On the page you listed their "ultra line" sounds like it would be good. I've always tried to carry a "spectra" line bag. I'm new to packrafting but a long time rafter, a stronger line can make a huge difference in certain rescue situa...

Hi Peppa, let us know where you're at, where you'll be paddling, and we can give you a lot better recommendations. I'm super new to packrafting as well (although I've been a boater for over 20 years) I've taken my packraft out of the box but it hasn't gotten wet yet. Soon....

Hey there, I'm new to this site and new to packrafting, my aire bakraft expedition should be shipped in the next couple weeks! My experience on this site so far is basically that no one responds to posts. I'm hoping that changes as we get closer to warm weather. Regarding your question.. Obviously I...

Re: From Clearwater to Swett: 9 days of canyoneering and packrafting

Sounds like an awesome trip, great video! I really hope to put together a trip to the canyonlands soon. A lifetime ago, before I got into rafting/kayaking/packrafting/etc, I used to do to a bunch of backpacking in the area. Can't wait to go back.

Hi all, this is a very old thread but thought I'd see if anyone out there has any current info. I'm planning a fishing/packrafting trip for July of 2017. The general plan is to start at the Spring Creek trailhead near Pinedale, spend a few days hiking and fishing our way over into the green river dr...

Newbie wondering which pack raft to buy, and does anyone OC1

Hello, I've decided to buy a packraft this winter so I thought I see if anyone here has any suggestions. I'm pretty set so far on getting the new Aire Expedition when it comes out but wanted to ask around before I pull the trigger. I'm a long time rafter and used to do a far amount of kayaking so I'...
