Re: new guy in Iowa

Did the Raccoon last year, rode the bike trail up and the river down. Nice little trip. Nice to hear from a few local people. Hi Argonaut...where did you start your trail ride from? I should be getting my new "used" llama on Thursday and want to go try it out this weekend. Any other trips that you ...

Will be there in November for a few weeks. Any specific rivers close to ChCh you can recommend? Thanks

Re: Isle Royale

I enjoyed the video....thanks for sharing. I was at Isle Royale for a quick day trip 10 years ago so it was nice to see what I missed.
Have a trip planned to the Apostle Islands and Minnesota this summer with the kayaks. Might have to bring the Alpacka's along too and find some intersting routes.

Can I damage raft by rolling or folding too tight?

Wasnt sure how tight these boats can be rolled. Any concerns that I may damage the boat? Thoughts?

Re: How to tell the exact model of packraft I have?

I may be wrong but I believe the serial number does indicate the model. I have a Llama and a Yukon and from my memory each of their serial numbers started with letters that looked to indicate this (something like LL or YY maybe). I am sure someone from Alpacka can provide the details.

ShamWow

Have had good luck using a piece (1' x 2') of ShamWow fabric laid at the bottom of the boat. Used it on a couple river trips (not white water, I'm in Nebraska). It worked good for soaking up the mud and water from my sandals as well as give the bottom of the boat a little extra protection from my sh...

Re: Oldest Alpacka raft still being used?

Thanks for the reply. I was reading Roman's book which has a chapter on some of the earlier boats (Sherpa, Curtis) and it got me thinking about some of the older Alpacka's that might still be around.

Cleaning the raft after use?

Just got done rafting down the dirty water of the Missouri River. Wondering the best way to clean the raft after use. I just hosed it off and set it out to dry. Is there anything else I should do to keep my raft in good shape? Thanks
