Re: Zipper on floor for fishing!

Zipper on the floor would also be helpful in removing water from a decked raft. But then again I wouldn't dare to take floor-zippered raft into any kind of whitewater.

Finnish blog

Heippa ihmiset, aloitin suomenkielisen packrafting-blogin tuossa noin viikko taaksepäin. Löytyypi täältä: http://reppulautta.blogspot.fi Hey guys, I've just started a finnish blog dedicated to packrafting. Don't try to Google Translate it, the outcome is more or less impossible to understand. I'll b...

Re: The Alpacka Raft Cargo Fly

Does anyone know how long and how Alpacka has been testing this concept?

Re: The Alpacka Raft Cargo Fly

If this works as well as ryanjordan and MikeC have described, it will be a major breakthrough for Alpacka. I mean the whole idea is purely un-f***ing-believeable! And as Alpacka has gained my trust as a company which knows what it is selling, I believe Cargo Fly will be widely used. I will consider ...

Re: DIY Spray Deck

Glad to hear that you are safe. When (if) you feel able to, would you consider sharing your experience with your homemade spray deck in more detail? Thanks. Well I don't remember much, but my raft flipped when I accidentally entered a rapid sideways. I had used double 50mm velcro to fasten the fron...

Re: DIY Spray Deck

I'd like to note that the this spray deck I made turned out to be extremely dangerous. I'm lucky to be alive. I tore the whole thing off and disposed it.

Review on Alpacka Scout

In collaboration with the european packrafting community , I have done a comprehensive test for Alpacka's Scout raft. You may read the full review here. Ironically, I had to sell the very same raft due to personal money issues. :( Edit: I also have a few video clips where I tried Scout in whitewater...

SOLD: Red Scout (2012)

Due to a sudden personal monetary crisis I will have part from my Scout. This is the same boat used in european scene's Scout review . Boat is only three months old and has seen no more than a few trips. Original mylar foil seat got destroyed during whitewater testing and therefore is not included, ...

I've tried both 236cm and 210cm paddles and found them equally useful.

Re: reinforcing the bottom of a sevylor

I've used Casco's Liquisole to glue parts to my boat and used the excess glue to reinforce damaged parts of my Yak's floor. Technically the whole floor could be reinforced with this stuff and the result would likely be almost as durable as standard Alpacka raft floor. Liquisole is one sort of a stre...

Packrafting & kitesurfing

Has anyone tried to combine packrafting with kitesurfing? I have no experience of kitesurfing myself but I've long been wanting to try it. The downside is that surfing kites are very expensive (800€/$ < ), so buying one just to try out if it works is out of question. But, I've understood that some p...

Re: 2 in a boat

I've boated myself (70kg / 170cm) and my pal (60kg / 172cm) in a Yak in calm water and it was maneuverable. I have no experience of Scout, but I'd recommend you to forget it since (I think) the flotation wouldn't be sufficient for two people. (The tube holds _approximately_ 200-300 liters of air whi...

Re: Packs

I've been using Osprey Atmos 50 as it's big enough for a few days trip and there are good spots to tie up paddle and boat. Plus the whole pack fits nicely in Tatonka's XL-size drybag. I've also considered purchasing a Aquapac Noatak 35 for weight-crunching trips I intend to start after my Scout & tr...

Re: DIY Spray Deck

Although this thread is almost a year old, I think it's better to reuse this than start a new one to confuse users. I bought my Alpacka half a year ago and without spay deck since I didn't think I would be using it for whitewater. Well, oops. Sending the boat back for retrofit would cost $200 + frei...
