Jim had his Go-Pro on for the two runs at PWWC and I videoed on the sidelines with Jim's camera.

We'll have to wait for him to wrap up his trip and do an edit. I'll try and get the raw footage in the meantime.

Update: this weekend's course is full with 12 people.

Jim will run a course next weekend (15/16 Dec) for a minimum of 4 people. If interested put your hand up, or even PM :-)

With the locations of those interested I'm thinking Snowies could be the go. It will accommodate the Victorians, the southern NSW rafters and well - the Sydneysiders will just have to drive :-)

So RFG - we might put your local knowledge to use. Do we have a river down south that might work ?

I like the idea of the ULA Epic design - a pack with a solid harness without the need to 'double up' on the body of the pack. It is not a "waterprroof" pack. You still need to line it with a light weight dry bag. It carries weight well and after 10 months of heavy use is still holding up.
Yes I think I was being a tad optimistic thinking Cuben Fibre was waterproof :-)

Nice trip ! Shame about your keys... losing my car keys is also on my adventure paranoia list, luckily hasn't happened yet. I believe the Grose from Faulconbridge onwards is a pretty cool trip with some Grade III and IV rapids.

Would be fun to try one day.

Howdy Dave Here's a link to a PFD overview basically you're looking for a Type III PFD that provides sufficient bouyancy for your weight. Mark - have to say you have a great employer if they lend new ultralite tents ! I have a Notch on order and chose to go with the partial solid inner to have more protection against wind and sand. Weighing 740g, double wall, dual vestibules and trekking pole / paddle compatible makes a great mix IMHO...

I camped on the Kowmung over the weekend at the base of Roots Ridge Trail and the river was flowing with some vigor. Looks like a great trip to be had - would love to give it a shot.

Cool pictures Darren. The water flow looked pretty serious ! I took the path of humility and decided to wait for a less 'challenging' paddle, the Youtube video posted by Gus had some sections which would have guaranteed swims or worse for me...
