Re: Youtube Videos!
here's a cool experience that'll make you smile and get a little sad at the same time. Thought seriously about loading this caribou in my PR-49 and taking it for a joy ride to brighten the mood...but decided against it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Msb96t4E74&feature=youtu.be tried to embed, but ...

Re: Hunting and Packrafts
Try front loading your pack or a dog...or about 60 lbs. This helps keep it from fish tailing on the float. larry bartlett I hunt from my packrafts all the time in Alaska. I thought about packing this caribou for a short ride, but it's leg was injured and it seemed a little hungry for milk... http://...

2010 Feathercraft Baylee 3
This Baylee 3 was bought new in 2010. has green Heavy Weight fabric and a rowing kit. I modified this rig with lashing points all around the boat for extra lashing and hauling big game. I also added a seat adjustment to center my body weight forward for better paddling control and maximized use of p...

Re: tracking, speed, wind resistance
Most packrafts come with a skeg strap on the bottom of the floor. The plastic skeg insert helps tracking trmendously. It requires a depth of 6" or so, which is why we don't use the skeg on rivers. But, with moving water tracking is better facilitated with weight forward approach.

Re: seat mod ideas?
i've glued industrial strength velcro to both seats to connect one seat atop the other. AquaSeal urethane adhesive works well.

Re: Dog in Packraft
I travel with my dogs nearly everywhere we go. Never had more fun that seeing our dogs lounging aboard our packrafts. I float rivers from Class I-IV and the dogs love it. Never a puncture or tear resulted...to date. Here's a collage of three boat types we've used with our dogs: 1. Big Rig (me and 2 ...

Re: Stalls, ferry, flips & tricks (2 in one boat)
With a small double action air pump and halkey roberts valves, you can put up to about 6psi, but Feathercraft suggest no more than 3.5-4 psi. With heavy loads and maneuvering control, I like a stiff and rigid boat, so i push the limits a bit on tube air pressure. The Big Rig has 13" tubes. With larg...

Re: Alpacka Raft and Feathercraft
I can certainly attest to my Feathercraft being a packraft. It's a special design, but same general design features of other Feathercrafts, just larger capacity and made specifically for alaska hunting. We paddle it in whitewater up to class IV. No spray deck, fully SB floor design or standard model...

anytime, Roman. i'm in fairbanks, but it's light enough to ship down to you. My wife and I will take the SB model Big Rig to New Zealand this Feb for a month of tramping and whitewater fun. It's a fun packraft for 2 people and light gear. Saw some of your New Zealand footage recently...nice music se...

Re: Alpacka Raft and Feathercraft
Have thought about incorporating a spray deck for the Big Rig, but for hunting loads this is unreasonable. I've packed the Big Rig all over Alaska this summer and fall, and the 11 lb model has worked great for 2 guys, plus backpacks for 2-week trips. I also have been very impressed with its load hau...

Re: Alpacka Raft and Feathercraft
I've been working with FeatherCraft for developing a new packraft for hunters, or those paddling with heavy loads. Here's the Big Rig packraft loaded with a whole moose, plus me and gear. Total weight of the standard floor model is 11.4 lbs Total weight of the Big Rig with self-bailing floor is 16.3...

Re: Tyvek versus Gaffa tape for temporary attachment points?
I do a lot of filming on float trips, and I also own a couple of alpacka explorers. I tried tyvek tape for securing points for a tripod, but they failed to hold up to the rigors of a long float. I opted to go with the simple loop ring patches. They weigh very little and are easy to apply. Now i have...
