Mark, Put it together, do a course inclusion list, you'll get people. Give plenty of notice! If in Tassie and wanting to attract mainlanders maybe keep it to three days or offer a three and five day set of options? Unis, clubs etc seem to have a bunch of 'rafts these days, they might even be keen on...

I have an explorer, undecked. If I was about to pull the pin on a new boat, I'd go a smaller boat, decked. Pretty much for the reasons Steve outlined. PS - Steve, we must catch up, be good to yarn mate. Hope all is well.

Adhesives in Oz

Hi folks I picked up a pair of thigh straps and a backrest for super-duper-mega-reduced from my local outdoors shop today.

I have a patch or two, but am still unsure of what to use as a glue that's actually available in Oz.

Anyone? Jeremy? Steve?

... whilst sea kayaking early in spring this year I was unexpectedly stuck on rocks at the base of a remote cliff for two days and two nights beyond our expected return time. Luckily we were able to seal-land onto the rocks but there was always the chance of having to swim ashore and losing a kayak...

In an amazing piece of serendipity, Wild magazine has a tip for sandflies in as it's letter of the month. Mix a capful of dettol in a small bottle of baby oil, and rub on exposed skin. G'luck !

Jeremy, nice rolls. Much difference not having the whole full spray deck on ? Makes me think of putting in some straps on my beast, without a deck.

As a lifelong surfer I reckon paddling out in anything I'd call over 2'+ on a packraft is unlikely without serious wetting. Maybe if you know your beach reading skills well and pick a gap.
