Re: Riley Creek, Denali NP

My friend Fernando and I left Riley Creek Mercantile on June 14th at about 12:15pm and hiked out the Triple Lakes Trail, which parallels Riley all the way. The first mile or so is low near the river so it is possible to scout out water levels, the drop at the Railroad Bridge and get a sense of how b...

Re: Found Packraft on Eagle River

I heard someone lost a yellow packraft when they missed the takeout at Echo Bend, I believe a yellow one. It would be great if you could please call the Eagle River Nature Center 907-694-2108 to report the found boat in addition to your post here.

Lost a piece of your 2 or 4 piece paddle?

I lost a section of my 4 piece Aquabound paddle shaft while hiking into a creek. I called Aquabound and they are willing to make a new piece and ship it for a small fee ($20 for replacement plus shipping). A great deal if the unfortunate happens!!

Wanted: Aquabound TLC carbon fiber shaft Or any 4 pc paddle

Up Sheep Creek without a paddle! The alders ate 1/4 of my paddle last weekend. Anyone happen to have the same thing happen and want to get rid of the right half of an aquabound Carbon fiber TLC shaft ~210 cm?? Ok, pretty unrealistic. Let me know if you have a lightweight 4 piece paddle for sale. Tha...

Crescent Creek on the Kenai Peninsula

Wouldn't it be nice to hike in the Carter Lake trail, paddle down Crescent Lake and float out Crescent Creek on the Kenai? Well, we scouted it out last weekend (July 18-19th 2009) since we didn't see any posts about it. Hiked up from the Crescent Creek Trailhead near Cooper Landing hoping to see the...

Re: Granite Creek

Did this June 27 2009 and loved it! A pretty, shallow creek with lots of splashy waves, I think there were 3 sweepers that we easily portaged, and some shallows that required the lift-and-scoot or walk-and-drag technique. Took two dogs that were able to run down the creek most the way, eventually ri...

Re: Denali HWY-7mile lake-Eureka Creek-Delta River

Variation on a theme... We did approximately this route July 3-6th 2009. We hiked out the Mclaren Summit trail up on the bench, cutting crosscountry to sevenmile lake. Paddled only about 2 miles on the lake before taking the first "low" pass north. This pass was a succession of lakes, boulders and s...

Vacationing with my packraft in Hawai'i?

I am on my way to the Big Island and have been looking for ideas on how to give my packraft a vacation in warmer waters as well. I saw the pic of someone surfing the waves in a packraft on the Alpacka page, any other experiences to share?

Aloha!
