Desolation Canyon April 2017

I'm looking for people interested in floating Deso Canyon in April. It's 84 miles of the Green River and going this time of year puts you right under the wire for the permit lottery. PM me or email me at brad.branan@gmail.com. I'm somewhat flexible on the dates but it has to be before May.

Re: Bob Marshall 2016

Thanks for the intel Dave. This is one thing I have yet to get used to, and is especially frustrating in the drought plagued west - having your trip completely dictated by the weather. Packrafting is more dependent on weather than any other sport I do, even skiing. In any case, this information is r...

Bob Marshall 2016. No longer...

I've canceled this plan for this year at least. I think I'm going to the Roundup and do something around there instead. Folks, I'm planning to float the "South to North loop" in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in mid June of next year. I'm looking for people to join me. Here is a video Foreest McCarthy ...

Desolation Canyon 2016

I'm planning to packraft Desolation Canyon sometime early next year in the glorious red rock wonderland of southeast Utah, probably around April. For those who don't know this is a 90 mile section of the Green River, class II-III water. There are two highly regarded areas with Indian art and ruins, ...

Denali in August

Hello, I have a trip planned for August 15-30, backpacking and packrafting in and around Denali National Park. This is a low-cost way to get my annual Alaska fix. I'm interested in finding partners for part or all of the trip. Here's the barebones plan: -Go to Denali NP and raft the Sanctuary River ...

Crossing Colorado to Maze?

Folks, Me and a buddy are planning to backpack the Maze in Canyonlands at the end of next month. Our plan is to use my packraft to cross the Colorado River at Spanish bottom. I have not used the packraft with two people and wonder if this is a good plan. Has anyone crossed the Colorado there and can...

I can send a photo of the pack. The website won't let me post one - says site has reached attachment limit. Sounds personal to me.

ULA EPIC - LARGE - USED ONCE

I have a large ULA EPIC backpack. I used it once on a trip to Wrangell-St. Elias and it is in very good condition. I paid $275 plus shipping and tax. I would like $225 but will consider lower offers. I can accept Pay Pal for payment. Feel free to ask any questions. There is absolutely nothing wrong ...

Escalante River - Coyote Gulch, Memorial Day week

I'm planning a packraft trip for May 25 through 31 on the Escalante River. I'm looking for partners. This is similar to what I'm planning: http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/escalante.html#.UszoZ3mrJVM Keep in mind that there should be more water than when these guys went. Late...

Partner wanted: Wrangell - St. Elias late August 2014

I'm looking for people interested in doing a backpacking/packrafting trip in Wrangell St. Elias NP next year, late August and early September. I have extensive backcountry experience but limited packrafting experience. I expect to be able to handle whitewater by the time I'm out there, as I will rec...

Re: Wrangell-St. Elias suggestions?

Thanks for the tip. I'm leaning toward Nebesna to McCarthy, if I can get all the training and classes I need to get ready for that trip. If not, some of those routes the guides do look nice too.

Wrangell-St. Elias suggestions?

I'm planning to visit Wrangell-St. Elias next summer. I am looking for suggestions for packrafting trips. I want to do a combination of hiking and rafting. I have kayaking experience and plan to have packrafting experience by next summer. I'm a beginner so I'm looking for fairly safe water. The vide...

Newbie wants buying tips

I am new to packrafting. I come to the sport through the field of lightweight backpacking - which is how I will most often be using a packraft. I am looking for advice about buying a packraft. Based on what I have read, I am looking at buying an Alpacka Denali Lllama with the cruiser spray deck and ...
