Re: Looking for Wind River packrafting routes to incorporate climbing

Check out the TMF Expedition (To Much Fun). I have not done the Green yet. It's the only wilderness river in the Winds I'm aware of that does not involve lots of drops and whitewater. Honestly I think a packraft would be more trouble then it's worth for most of that area. The rivers all look very st...

Re: Alpaca Gnarwhal SB or Kokopelli Nirvana XL SB?

Last I checked SB Alpackas don't have a full length inflatable floor. You sit lower but your feet are in the water. Luc Mehl told me felt that was a deal breaker in Alaska. The Kokopelli has a thick full length inflatable floor. You will get splashed but your feet are not constantly in the water. Wi...

Used Packrafts Cheap!

I have two rafts that I'm selling to finance other adventure stuff. First is a 2016 Kokopelli Nirvana with a deck. Includes thigh straps and a cargo zipper. Normally sells for $1000 with those options. I'm asking $625 shipped unless you live in outside the lower 48. It has been patched in one spot b...

Alpacka Yak for Sale (SOLD)

I have a Alpacka Yak in good condition for sale. It has a cruiser deck and thigh strap attachments added. I tore the removable portion of the spray deck on a trip. I sewed it back together and layered tyvek tape over that. The fix is perfectly functional but not as pretty as a new boat. I am trying ...

Re: Youtube Videos!

My friend Ben and I did a trip in Canada. It was supposed to be 5 days but due to various disasters it ended up taking 11 days. Here is the youtube video about it all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZ6q0B1gYLQ I don't think Ben participates here but he has posted some other cool videos on his YouTu...

Need a Cheap Paddle

My brother will be joining me for his first packrafting trip, I have a loaner raft, now I need a loaner paddle. I was thinking of getting an Aquabound 4-pc aluminium paddle. That is about $100. Are there any cheaper paddles that would be strong enough for limited whitewater (doing the South Fork of ...

Want Scout, Curiyak or old Aplacka

I'm interested in a Scout, Curiyak or old (i.e. pre-big butt) Alpacka. Basically I'm looking for a cheaper and smaller raft for trips where I don't want the weight/bulk of my tricked out Yak.

If you have anything like this please let my know. My email is lrschmidt@liberty.edu

Pacific Creek Float-ability

I just did the five miles of Pacific Creek from the junction of Gravel Creek and Pacific Creek (what Forest McCarthy recommended in his guide to Jackson Hole Packrafting). I was curious if it would be possible to go higher up and float more. I'm paddling solo right now and don't want to try anything...

Re: Packrafting Guide to Jackson Hole

Any idea if its possible to do more then 5 miles of Pacific Creek? I was just up there and thought I could probably go farther up with the high water but didn't since I wasn't sure what I'd find.

I don't know exact dates yet but sometime in June or July. It should only take 2-3 days so I can schedule it pretty easily. Want to come?

Re: Crazy Packrafting Idea in the Beartooth Mountains

I'm not so worried about water levels, I'm worried about going over a waterfall! I've looked at Google Earth and topo maps and there are clearly some rapids and some narrow gorges in there plus lots of elevation drop. Claass II or easy III is about all I'm up for right now. I think I'll have to take...

Crazy Packrafting Idea in the Beartooth Mountains

I have a crazy idea for a packrafting trip in Montana. What if you put in at Canyon Lake in the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness and then followed the chain of lakes down? From Canyon Lake you have Fox Lake, Ivy Lake, Big Moose Lake and Widewater Lake. Looks like a decent trip even if all you did was p...

Re: APA Roundup carpool

Hey Dan my plan is to drive up through Colorado, Wyoming and Montana this summer and I should be at the round up. Might be interested in joining you prior to the round up to paddle some rivers in either Colorado or Wyoming. I don't see how carpooling would work since I need my own vehicle but I'd be...

Re: Pre-Roundup Shenanigans

I'm hoping to be in the area as well. I'm getting a packraft and hopefully will get a chance to play with it on the way up. I'd like to try some mellow whitewater to start out with. I'd be up for something in the Glacier/Bob Marshell area.
