Re: TR (Tasmania): Jane, Maxwell, Denison and Gordon Rivers; Jan
Thank you Jules, Matt has promised to check in with a few pictures. He is a fabulous photographer, so they will be worth waiting for. Maybe he will add a few comments too. Matt? Duke, Sally's throwbag and NOLS bottle were exactly where she left them when we came through the Enkidu on the 13th. Just ...

TR (Tasmania): Jane, Maxwell, Denison and Gordon Rivers; Jan
Our party of three travelled from the Franklin River Bridge on the Lyell Highway to Heritage Landing (Lower Gordon) over eight days. The Jane River Track is becoming quite rough in places, but a few fresh boot prints were noticed as far as the Erebus. A post-lunch start resulted in our first camp sh...

Re: The Murchison in Taswegia
I did the Murchison just with my wife, about 15 years ago. It's a great paddle, but it's a job to get in and a job to get out! I doubt it's been done very often in the last 15 years, so you should find it quite pristine. We dropped in from the saddle between Horizontal Hill and the Guardians. You ca...

Re: The Jane River
G'day Duke, My party took 8 days from road to pick-up on lilos, including a couple of extended patching stops. Six days seems reasonable for an experienced, fast party on packrafts. Allow at least 2 spare days up your sleeve in case of difficult conditions. The gorges are tight and portages can be h...

Re: Denison/Gordon rivers, photos
The Donaldson sounds great Jon. Where did you put in on the upper Picton? And how was the paddling on it? I've done from the upper bridge down to the Huon, but am interested in the river above that. I agree that you definitely need a paddle that will fit inside a rucsac, for negotiating scrub. Canoe...

Re: Denison/Gordon rivers, photos
I am also pleased to see some quality traffic in this forum, Blackwood. I've neglected the North-west rivers for many years and would like to travel a few of those. Unfortunately life is such that I can generally only chip away with one significant wilderness trip per year! I can recommend dropping ...

Re: More photos of tassie pack rafting
Hello Duke, I recognise the Crossing River Gorge, and the other pictures therefore clearly describe a trip down the Crossing and Davey Rivers to Port Davey. Thanks for sharing this lovely collection of photographs! I paddled those rivers in about 1984, before these interesting boats became available...
