Re: Predictable end - demise of the colossus

I'm with Steve. I'm generally brutal with gear and tend to wear things out quicker than most. I'm not careless, but don't baby my kit. I can't believe I haven't destroyed my packraft yet. The amount of dragging and hauling over rocks with large loads has only done some minor cosmetic damage and put ...

Do you know what the hillview gauge was reading when you ran the section?

:-)
Your trip would have to be one of the longer ones completed in oz at this point with a packraft. The freaks from Tassie might have done some longish trips.
I'm hoping to find some $$ for a new raft to do some bigger whitewater soon which will need a new approach with lighter gear.

Inspiring stuff mate, again, well done. Packrafting has so many faces, and this is one of my favorite types of trips. Big loads and longer distances in a traditional style. Stoked!

I won't answer for pi11wizard but I looked at a few in City Bike Depot, Kent street Sydney. I think I saw a "Surly Long Haul Trucker" and possibly another brand hanging up.

I've got heaps more mobility but driving and trying to sit in soft chairs are difficult. It's healing quicker than anticipated though so I'm happy.
Yeah the lakes are nice at certain times of day. Plenty of ski boats to dodge in some areas.

Nice detailed report Ross! Thanks for including the gauge heights etc. I have very hazy memories of heading down Galong creek then Cox's from "Packsaddlers" about 20 years ago. Cheers all and Happy New Year. Chrisp, yep this one was solo. Self timed shots can look a tad wanky sometimes but can occasionally add some perspective to an otherwise average shot.
