Re: New to Packrafting Melbourne

Hi Mark, Sorry to see that you have had no responses for packrafting trips either here or on AdventurePro! Perhaps Linden's comment on AdventurePro that 'packrafting is for nerds' scared off others' responses? :) If I lived in Vic I would have got in contact with you but I will hassle my brother and...

Re: Video TR: 5 Day Packrafting and Canyoning Trip in Tassie

Hi Daniel, The section you are referring to is most likely the triple drop gorge which is just above the junction of Kiaora Creek and the Mersey. Although this very(!) short gorge would be fantastic in a creek boat the section below until the bottom of Lees Paddocks is EXTREMELY tree chocked renderi...

Re: Video TR: 5 Day Packrafting and Canyoning Trip in Tassie

Hi Grasshopper. Good pickup. They are indeed the TT Notch along with a Scarp 2. We were lucky enough to be able to have the loan of the Notch tents through work. I think they are a great tent for trips such as these and I had the use of one for a week on the South Coast Track the week before Easter....

Video TR: 5 Day Packrafting and Canyoning Trip in Tassie

Hi Folks, In January seven of us packrafted, walked and canyoned down the upper Mersey River in Tasmania. We started in the Walls of Jerusalem, following the Mersey through the Never Never before abseiling the main waterfalls you can see on the Overland Track. We then continued down the canyon/river...

Re: Embedding Vimeo videos here

Thanks to Blue Man for helping me out and explaining how to embed videos from either Vimeo or YouTube. For others who may be similarly challenged by technology it was actually extremely easy in the end - once shown how. Simply type the following: [vimeo]use-just-your-vimeo-ID-number[/vimeo] You only...

Embedding Vimeo videos here

Hi Folks, I am after some help as I am still trying to work out how to embed videos from Vimeo (or YouTube) into topics within this forum. Can anyone help me by explaining in very simple English how to do this? Please assume I know nothing - which is correct. I have copied the embed code from my Vim...

Re: Youtube Videos!

Hi Folks, Have finally managed to put together a movie from one of our recent packrafting adventures. Hope to get more out soon. Have now moved to Vimeo rather than YouTube. This HD video is of a 5 day packrafting and canyoning trip in January down the upper Mersey River close to the Overland Track ...

Re: Penrith Whitewater Centre?

Really interesting to hear of this and a huge shame that commercial organizations aren't recognizing the true abilities of packrafts. I am actively trying to promote packrafts in Tassie and show people their potential but it is much easier to do that down here due to the small size of the paddling/o...

Re: Penrith Whitewater Centre?

Hi All, I meant to post ages ago on this but have been slack (& very busy at work). From my point of view there are some valid points from both sides on this; although being a keen whitewater kayaker/paddler and instructor/OE teacher who is now infatuated with packrafting I would love to see PWS ope...

Re: Best adhesive available in AU

Hi Folks, Apologies for a late response on this query. I am certainly no expert but have glued on near 50 patches to Alpacka packrafts over the past 18 months (I have a bad habit of modifying and personalising every piece of outdoor equipment I own & occasionally doing likewise to friends' gear). Pr...

Re: TR... An Xmas adventure

Great report and photos Darren as always!! Bummer (literally) about the injury and early finish to your amazing trip. Well done on paddling that section solo - an impressive effort and particularly for completing a self-evacuation rather than simply calling for help. Have paddled Oallen Ford to Sewe...

Re: Dog in Packraft

Our Border Collie, Hamlet, loves packrafting, whitewater rafting and sea kayaking. Luckily he is pretty mellow and enjoys just sitting there watching the world go by. He only weighs around 44 pounds but fits in a 2010 model Yak. Check out the following video if you are interested: http://www.youtube...

Have loved all the videos everyone is putting out. Not sure if these will embed okay as haven't done it before but here are a couple of ones I have made of packrafting in Australia on the Franklin and Snowy Rivers: http://www.youtube.com/embed/zdDXo3QG9SI http://www.you...

Brand New Paddle for sale: Splat 4-way split carbon

I have a brand new (never used) SPLAT carbon fibre 4-way split paddle for sale for $200. Light and compact and perfect for packrafting! Purchased recently from Alpacka but the shaft diameter is slightly too large for my wife's small hands so regretablly selling. Can be collected in Hobart or will po...
