Beta for Babine, Clearwater and other BC rivers

Post by watergrl » Sat Mar 16, 2019 12:54 am

Aside from Laurel Archer's books, I'm having a hard time finding information about BC rivers and trips for packrafting. I know; study maps and scout some trips myself! On the other hand, has anyone paddled the Clearwater from the source. How about the Babine? Aside from the narrow canyon, Class IV, which looks like it could be portaged, can the rest of the river be run in a packraft?

I ran the Babine in a raft and kayaks about 20 years ago. It's a great trip and the whitewater is pretty mellow. Maybe 1 or 2 class 4s if my memory is correct. the scariest part was scouting "Grizzly Falls", one of the class 4s with pools of salmon blood all over the rocks. Lots of bears.
