A Beginner Whitewater Packrafting Course is now being offered on the last weekend of February by Canoe Tasmania.
The course is based out of Hobart and will involve 2 day trips, most likely on the Derwent and the Picton plus an evening session. The cost is $240 with additional costs if you need to hire packrafts. Total novices to paddling/whitewater/packrafting are very welcome as are those that simply want to consolidate their skills and ensure that they are up to speed on looking after themselves and others on whitewater.
The course focuses on staying safe in grade 2 whitewater and moving water. It will need minimum numbers to run.
Further info and the online registration form can be found at: http://tas.canoe.org.au/whitewater-packrafting/
Remember that "You don't know what you don't know" so come along and make sure that you actually do know all that you need to in order to keep yourself and your paddling buddies safe out there.
In spring an intermediate course will be run in the north west and also hopefully an advanced course as well.
