Colorado/Green in late October

Post by hydroman » Wed May 30, 2018 5:07 pm

Hey Folks,

Somewhat newbie packrafter here. Wondering if 2nd half of October is getting too late to do the Canyonlands figure 8 loop down the Green and Colorado? I'm a westcoaster that has backpacked Canyonlands 6 or 7 times in the Maze and Needles but usually in late November (pretty cold) or April (moderate temps). I know the Colorado is super cold water. Would late October be unpleasantly cold for packrafting or just about right? Never been there that time of year. Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Thats prime time for a canyonlands trip. Just be prepared for all kinds of weather and wind.
Lake Powell: storage pond, silt trap, evaporation tank and garbage dispose-all, a 180-mile-long incipient sewage lagoon.
