California - Monterey area

Post by johnz1967 » Thu Aug 28, 2008 1:23 pm

Visiting family in Monterey area late September, been there many times but first time I've thought of bringing a raft with me so I've never thought to look for potential floats. Any rivers/creeks runnable around there that would still have decent water that late in the year? 1/2 day, hike-n-raft like preferable but I'll take any info I can get.

You have to time the water just right, but I've hiked a kayak the 10 miles into Sykes Hot Springs and paddled out the Big Sur River to the ocean. Class IV, very committed (steep, poision oak-infested banks, no contact with civilization). Can't wait to return in a packraft!
