Lower Canyons, Rio Grande Wild & Scenic River, Big Bend Area

Post by willgovus » Sat Dec 31, 2016 3:27 pm

Was wondering if anyone has ran the lower canyons of the Rio Grande in the big bend area in a packraft? Definitely not the most ideal boat as its car to car and long but an alpacka is what I got and its convenient on an upcoming road trip. Was thinking about doing a hitch hiking car shuttle. Any advice would be appreciated.

Done the lower canyon many times in canoes. I think it would be good in a packraft as often water level very low. If you are thinking of getting out at the typical take out at the ranch, no way to hitchhike. Private Ranch road, it could be days before a car comes. Cant remember but over an hour just in a car.
