Dog-friendly Packraft Trips

Post by bradmeiklejohn » Mon Jun 23, 2008 3:20 pm

As an owner of multiple dogs I am always on the lookout for buttboating trips that the pups can come along on. A key criterion seems to be a riverbank or shoreline that the dogs can run along without encountering major obstacles such as cliffs, roads, canyons or major tributaries. So far, I've had good luck with the following rivers:

Eagle River, including Echo Bend and Campground Rapids
Boulder Creek
South Fork of Eagle River
Chickaloon River

I welcome other suggestions.

Thanks for the info on this. I hate having to leave my hyper huskie at home when she craves the run to Nome and back daily. Do you always have your dogs run along on the bank or do sometimes have them in the raft?

I floated out Placer River with my dog in the packraft last month. It was probably my fourth time packrafting and her first time. Made for a great adventure.

Add the Carlo Creek - Nenana loop to the list of dog-friendly trips:
